6.3The practitioner helps promote the community's health by preventing and controlling infection and disease, by education and, where it applies, by screening. Good practice means the practitioner: (a) understands and applies public health principles (education and promotion of health, prevention and control of infection and disease, screening) using the best evidence; (b) takes part in efforts to promote community health, including effective infection prevention and control and appropriate antimicrobial use to limit resistance; and (c) knows their duties in disease prevention, including screening and notifying notifiable diseases.
