4.1A good partnership calls for personal conduct of a high standard. Good practice means the practitioner: (a) is courteous, respectful, compassionate and honest; (b) treats each patient as an individual; (c) encourages and supports patients to be well-informed and to use it in their decisions, their self-care and the management of their health, the consent process included; and (d) recognises the power imbalance in the relationship and takes no physical, emotional, sexual or financial advantage of patients (see 4.8 and 8.11).
