Psychology Board: General registration

Psychology Board registration standards. Edition held: General and provisional registration 1 December 2025; area of practice endorsement 1 December 2019; CPD 1 December 2015; PII 1 December 2019; recency of practice 1 December 2016; checked current on 6 October 2026 (Psychology Board registration standards page read 6 October 2026: all eight standards and their dates match).

Under review, not in force: Revised CPD and recency standards were consulted on (consultation closed 17 July 2026). The 4+2 internship pathway closes: the last day to apply for general registration through it is 30 June 2027. Revised general and provisional registration standards already published by the Board take effect on 1 January 2029.

G-4While registered as a provisional psychologist the applicant has completed one of: a Board-approved postgraduate qualification accredited as fifth and sixth years; all fifth and sixth year coursework and practicum of an accredited fifth to seventh year qualification with sufficient progress in the research thesis (certified by the Head of School); an accredited fifth year followed by a Board-approved 5+1 internship; a Board-approved 4+2 internship (closing, see pending changes); or an overseas qualification and supervised practice assessed as substantially equivalent plus a Board-approved transitional program unless exempt.
