NDIS mid-term certification audit: when it falls
A provider registered for any class assessed by certification has a mid-term certification audit starting within 18 months of the start of its registration period, unless the Commissioner allows later. It covers the Core module governance standards, any standard that needed a corrective action plan and any standard the Commissioner specifies. It is not required for an individual or partnership whose only certification requirement is early childhood supports, for an SDA-only provider or for a transitioned provider.
A provider registered for any class assessed by certification undergoes a mid-term certification audit by an approved quality auditor starting within 18 months of the start of its registration period (or later if the Commissioner allows), covering the Core module Part 3 governance standards, any standard for which a corrective action plan was required and any standard the Commissioner specifies; the report goes to the Commissioner as soon as practicable. Not required for an individual or partnership whose only certification requirement is early childhood supports, for an SDA-only provider, or for a transitioned provider.
Registration continues past its expiry date only if the provider applies for registration under s 73C within the 6 months before the day it would cease; it then continues until the Commissioner decides the application. A provider that misses the window loses registration on the expiry date.
On the Practice plan, the register puts the mid-term audit date (18 months from the registration start) and the renewal window (6 months before expiry) in the list of dates in the next 90 days.
