NDIS Quality Support for Children (guidance) on the standards library
Early childhood supports promote the child's rights, build functional skills and enable participation with peers: deliver support at home, in the community and in education settings; ask about the child's goals and strengths and the family's culture, language, values and beliefs; set goals with the family with a clear review timeline; build strategies into play and daily routines; coordinate with the other professionals involved; coach the family, educators and support workers; use evidence-based assessment tools and measure progress; and avoid recommending therapy hours that crowd out play, rest and family time. Restrictive practices are never used or advised except by a registered provider permitted to do so.
- Goal plan agreed with the family with review dates
- Progress measures from standardised tools
- Coaching records for family and educators
- Clinic-only delivery with no routines-based strategies
- Recommended hours leaving no time for play and rest
