Working with children checks are state and territory law, which this list does not cover. Whether a worker needs one, and the exemptions, are set by each state: Queensland, for example, exempts registered health practitioners acting in their professional capacity in specified circumstances. See the state laws page. NDIS worker screening is a separate clearance under the NDIS rules. State laws this checklist does not cover.
A provider must be a registered NDIS provider to develop behaviour support plans or do behaviour support assessments (specialist behaviour support), to use or implement regulated restrictive practices, and to deliver supports to participants whose plans the NDIA manages; specialist behaviour support is delivered only by behaviour support practitioners the Commissioner considers suitable, under the provider's registration. Registered providers comply with the Practice Standards that apply to their supports and are audited against them.
