Working with children checks are state and territory law, which this list does not cover. Whether a worker needs one, and the exemptions, are set by each state: Queensland, for example, exempts registered health practitioners acting in their professional capacity in specified circumstances. See the state laws page. NDIS worker screening is a separate clearance under the NDIS rules. State laws this checklist does not cover.
Providers give families information on how to give feedback, raise concerns and complain, help them feel safe to do so without fear of retribution or losing services, and tell them about their rights and the NDIS Commission, Ahpra and advocacy as further avenues; child safety and wellbeing policies, a staff and volunteer code of conduct, worker screening and incident management policies are available for families to see.
