Working with children checks are state and territory law, which this list does not cover. Whether a worker needs one, and the exemptions, are set by each state: Queensland, for example, exempts registered health practitioners acting in their professional capacity in specified circumstances. See the state laws page. NDIS worker screening is a separate clearance under the NDIS rules. State laws this checklist does not cover.
Every NDIS provider and worker, registered or not, respects the child's rights to expression, self-determination and decision-making; respects privacy; supports safely and competently with care and skill; acts with integrity, honesty and transparency; promptly raises and acts on quality and safety concerns; takes all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, neglect, abuse and sexual misconduct; and does not advertise or charge higher prices to NDIS participants than to others without a valid reason.
- Code of conduct training records for each worker
- Pricing schedule showing the same prices for NDIS and non-NDIS clients or the documented reason
- Higher 'NDIS rate' advertised
- Staff unaware the code applies to unregistered providers
