R-1Meet the recency of practice hourssource
Requirement, our statement of the clause

A registered physiotherapist (not students or non-practising registrants) completes at least 450 hours of physiotherapy practice in the three years before the start of the registration period, or 150 hours in the previous registration year. Applicants for new or additional registration types, including moving from non-practising registration or applying for an endorsement, must meet it; recent graduates applying for the first time (qualification awarded not more than 12 months earlier) need not. There are no exemptions.

Evidence that typically shows this
  • Practice hours record for the qualifying period
  • Employer statements supporting hours
Common gap to check
  • Hours counted from outside the three-year window
  • Returning from non-practising without the hours
R-2Declare recency at renewal and keep records five yearssource
Requirement, our statement of the clause

Declare at each renewal whether the standard is met, and retain records evidencing the hours for five years for audit or a notification.

Evidence that typically shows this
  • Renewal declaration
  • Five years of hours records
Common gap to check
  • No records for locum or sessional work
R-3When the standard is not met, give the Board information before continuing or returningsource
Requirement, our statement of the clause

A physiotherapist who wants to continue or return to practice without meeting the standard provides information so the Board can decide; the Board may impose conditions or refuse registration or renewal, applying the Physiotherapy guidelines on recency of practice.

Evidence that typically shows this
  • Return-to-practice information submitted
  • Board decision and records of conditions met
Common gap to check
  • Returning to work before the Board decides
