Verification or certification for a paediatric OT or speech practice
A paediatric occupational therapy or speech pathology practice registered only for therapeutic supports is assessed by verification against Module 6. Registering for early childhood supports brings certification against the Core module and Module 3, except that an individual or partnership whose only certification requirement is early childhood supports meets only Core clause 7 and Module 3. Certification satisfies a verification requirement, and Module 6 stays on the list for the therapeutic supports.
Each Schedule applies to applicants in the same way as to registered providers, and to prospective participants and other people with disability receiving supports as if they were participants. Certification (desk audit, site inspection and interviews, proportionate to size, scale and complexity, and sampling allowed) applies to the Core module plus any supplementary module for the higher-risk classes (for example high intensity daily personal activities, specialist positive behaviour support, early childhood, specialised support coordination, SDA, group and centre-based activities, NDIS digital platform services and SIL); verification (desk audit against Module 6) applies to lower-risk classes. Module 2A applies whenever supports involve or are likely to involve a regulated restrictive practice. Government providers are certified against the Core module; an individual or partnership whose only certification requirement is early childhood supports meets only Core clause 7 and Module 3. Certification satisfies any verification requirement. The standards themselves are phrased as participant outcomes; the leaves below state the provider's duty to achieve each outcome with the quality indicators the auditor applies.
To be registered for a class of supports, the applicant is assessed by an approved quality auditor, by certification or verification as the s 20(3) table specifies, as meeting each applicable standard, plus Module 2A by certification where regulated restrictive practices are or may be used; to remain registered it keeps complying with those standards (s 20(1) and (2)). An individual or partnership whose only certification requirement is early childhood supports is assessed against Core clause 7 and Module 3 (s 20(4) and (5)); Commonwealth, State, Territory and local government providers are certified against the whole Core module for any class (s 22). Certification satisfies a verification requirement (s 23), and auditors apply the quality indicators (s 24).
