Registered occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Not psychologists (the Psychology Board has its own code from 1 December 2025) and not speech pathologists (not registered under the National Law).
A review of the shared code is under way; the June 2022 code stays in effect until a revised one is published.
Good practice means the practitioner (a) shows consideration to the patient's relatives, carers, partners and others close to them and respects their role in the patient's care, and (b) with appropriate consent or other permission, responds when they seek information (see 3.2).
- Record of the patient's nominated contacts and the consent given for sharing information with them
- Notes of information given to carers with the basis for disclosure
- Information given to relatives with no consent recorded
- Carers excluded from information the patient had agreed they could receive
