The provider works with the people in each child's life to build their capacity to achieve the functional outcomes identified in the support plan, so progress continues when the practitioner is not present.

  • Coaching plans for parents, carers and educators tied to plan outcomes
  • Session notes showing skills taught to the support network
  • Review notes measuring the network's use of the strategies

  • Capacity building limited to direct therapy with the child
  • Coaching not linked to the plan's outcomes

The provider builds each family's confidence to understand how their routines and everyday activities can support their child's development, so families see everyday life as the main place where learning happens.

The provider builds the capacity of the child, the family and the collaborating providers through coaching, capacity building supports and collaborative teamwork, rather than relying on the practitioner delivering hands-on therapy alone.

  • Coaching session records with observed practice and feedback
  • Joint sessions or secondary consultation records with other providers
  • Practice framework describing the coaching approach used

  • Coaching claimed but notes describe only hands-on therapy
  • Collaborating providers never offered capacity building

The provider collaborates to affirm, challenge and support the child, family and collaborating providers to further develop their skills and improve their practice and relationships.
