Mutual respect and clear communication among everyone helping a client lead to better outcomes. Effective practice means the psychologist: (a) communicates clearly, effectively, respectfully and without delay with colleagues and practitioners involved with the client; (b) acknowledges and respects everyone's contribution to the client's care; (c) is professional and courteous to colleagues and practitioners at all times, social media and other electronic channels included; and (d) does not exploit relationships with colleagues or practitioners, for example through commercial arrangements.
- Correspondence log with co-treating practitioners showing timely replies
- Workplace conduct or social media policy acknowledged by the psychologist
- Written commercial arrangements with referrers or colleagues showing no exploitative terms
- Disparaging comments about colleagues online
- Referral arrangements that pressure junior colleagues commercially
