Revised CPD and recency standards were consulted on (consultation closed 17 July 2026). The 4+2 internship pathway closes: the last day to apply for general registration through it is 30 June 2027. Revised general and provisional registration standards already published by the Board take effect on 1 January 2029.

Requirement, our statement of the clause

Area of practice endorsement is available only to psychologists with general registration, for an area approved by the Ministerial Council under s 15 of the National Law: clinical neuropsychology, clinical psychology, community psychology, counselling psychology, educational and developmental psychology, forensic psychology, health psychology, organisational psychology, and sport and exercise psychology. A psychologist previously endorsed may be considered eligible again on returning to practice if they meet the general registration requirements.

A-2Hold a postgraduate qualification in the area that the Board recognisessource

The minimum qualification for endorsement is an approved postgraduate qualification in that area of practice, or another qualification the Board considers substantially equivalent (overseas-qualified applicants follow the Board's published arrangements).

A-3Complete a registrar program the Board recognisessource
Requirement, our statement of the clause

In addition to the qualification the applicant completes a Board-approved registrar program in the same area, comprising the supervised practice hours the standard sets with a Board-approved supervisor, practice in an approved work role and active CPD under the Guidelines on area of practice endorsements, or another period of supervised practice the Board considers substantially equivalent; the hours may be reduced for certain programs of study or an existing endorsement.
