Requirement, our statement of the clause

Where relevant, effective practice means the psychologist: (a) is considerate of a client's associated parties and respects the part they play in the client's services; and (b) responds to associated parties' need for information when consent has been given or disclosure is otherwise permitted (section 3.2).

Evidence that typically shows this
  • Client authority to share information with nominated carers or family members, with scope and expiry
  • Contact log showing carer or family enquiries answered within the consent given
Common gap to check
  • Carers refused all information even where the client consented
  • Information given to family members without any consent on file
