8.2Vexatious notifications or malicious claimssource
Requirement, our statement of the clause

Psychologists avoid vexatious notifications and baseless malicious claims and make notifications and claims only out of genuine concern for public safety. Effective practice means the psychologist: (a) raises genuine public safety concerns with the proper authority, locally or with the Board, and meets mandatory reporting duties; and (b) does not make malicious complaints or vexatious notifications about other practitioners, which may be regarded as professional misconduct or unprofessional conduct and lead to regulatory action.

Evidence that typically shows this
  • File note of the public safety grounds for any notification made about another practitioner
  • Workplace procedure for raising concerns locally before or alongside a regulator notification
Common gap to check
  • Notification used to pursue a business or personal dispute
  • Genuine safety concern not raised for fear of conflict
